The changes Eddie McGuire wants to see made to AFL’s illicit drugs policy

Former Collingwood president Eddie McGuire has called for sweeping changes to the AFL’s illict drugs policy.
The league is on the cusp of announcing reforms to the policy, which still operates under a three-strike system that largely protects the identities of players being revealed.
McGuire said it was time for the policy to be transparent, with rehabilitation made a priority.

“I would like to see in-season positive tests be (deemed to be) in-competition (when testing for illicit drugs),” he said on 3AW Drive.
“I suggested part of what we should do – if you test positive, you are taken out of the side and then you are helped to rehabilitate.”
