STATE OF ORIGIN: AFL players are pushing for the return of State of Origin football as early as next year, as AFL Players Association President Luke Ball says there's strong interest in reviving the format. State of Origin hasn't been played in Aussie Rules form since 1999.

RUMOUR FILE: A 1956 Melbourne Olympic Torch is on eBay. The eBay posting claims that the torch is one of only 400 that were used in the 1956 torch relay. Four people have bid for the piece of Australian sporting history and the bid sits at $7,000.

RUMOUR FILE CONFIRMED: Google came to the rescue of a couple of amateur fishermen on Monday after the engine of their newly purchased boat failed to start. Ross and John spoke to one of the men who were able to get themselves to dry land... in reverse. Details here.

RUMOUR FILE CONFIRMATION: Victoria Police can confirm from the Rumour File that a firearm was accidentally discharged at Camperdown Police Station - just before 8pm on April 16th. There were no injuries as a result. Details here.

AFGHANISTAN: Prime Minister Julia Gillard confirms the bulk of Australian troops will return home from Afghanistan earlier than expected. Afghan troops will begin the take over in the Uruzgan Province later this year. The process is expected to take up to 18 months to complete.
