STUMPS DAY 2: Pakistan 6/310- Azhar Ali 139* & Mohammad Amir 28*
Rain has returned to the MCG and play has been abandoned on day 2. Pakistan will be satisfied with their performance after starting the day at 4/142 and adding 168 runs for the loss of just two wickets, those of Asad Shafiq for 50 and Sarfraz Ahmed for 10. Play will resume at 10am aedt on day 3 and the Australians will be looking to strike early before weather plays more of a part in this match.

Play has resumed on day 2 after rain caused extensive delays throughout the afternoon. The tea breaks been scrapped and play has been extended to 6pm with a minimum of 40 overs to be bowled weather permitting. Whilst waiting for the weather to pass, the MRN commentary team spoke with Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland.

LUNCH: Pakistan 4/232 - Azhar Ali 112* & Asad Shafiq 48*
Pakistan will be buoyed with their performance in the 1st session on Day 2 with batsmen Azhar Ali (112*) registering his twelfth test century in fine fashion. Getting support from fellow batsmen Asad Shafiq (48*), Azhar's century came with 7 boundaries and was the ninth test hundred by a Pakistani at the MCG. Despite light rain falling and play being interrupted, a trend that is set to continue, Pakistan got through the session without losing a wicket.

Play resumes on day 2 at the MCG with Pakistan at 4/142 after play was abandoned due to rain on day 1. Azah Ali (66*) and Asad Shafiq (4) return to the crease and will be looking to add significant runs to Pakistan's tally when play gets underway at 10am aest.
