15-year-old hailed as a hero after Parkdale rescue

A 15-year-old Melbourne girl is being hailed as a hero after coming to the aid of a kite surfer in trouble at Parkdale.

Bianca Stranger paddled out to the man who was in serious trouble after her police officer father sounded the alarm.

“Dad called me and asked me to go down,” she told Neil Mitchell.

The teen pulled the kite surfer onto her paddleboard and waited with him until water police arrived half an hour later.

“All the credit should really being going to all the trainers and coaches who put in all the hours,” she said.
