$3.2 billion on offer in Spain’s ‘El Gordo’ lottery
Australian punters can participate in a monster Spanish lottery worth over $3 billion.
El Gordo is Spain’s annual Christmas lottery, and it translates to ‘The Fat One’.
With $3.2 billion on offer this year, it’s not hard to see how it got that name.
And now, Aussies can get in on the action.
Ordinarily, people cannot enter a lottery in a different country, but one betting agency has found a loophole.
Rather than enter the draw, Lottoland lets punters bet on the outcome of the draw. It’s a minor distinction, but it makes a world of difference.
Lottoland’s marketing director Matthew Brinckley told Tony Jones the enormous prize pool has drawn in a lot of Aussies.
