3 young girls attacked and racially vilified in Norlane
Three young girls playing at a park on Sparks road in Norlane were attacked by a group of 10 youths on Wednesday last week.
The girls, aged 15, 12 and 11 had rocks hurled at them, the were punched, racially abused and had their headdresses forcefully removed.
Neil Mitchell spoke with the CEO of Diversitat Michael Martinez on this incident – ‘They should have every right to be in a park enjoying themselves. So, it’s a worry, because it’s more of an escalation than what we’ve heard of before. Let’s hope they realise the error of their ways, whoever did it and if the police catch up with them, let’s hope they deal with them’.
The girls attempted to call the police but had their mobile phones smashed.
The victims received minor injuries and did not know their attackers.
A woman was also seen with the group at the time of the incident.
An investigation has been launched into the matter, anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
