3AW Breakfast speaks with Reykjavik pub owner after Iceland stuns England
Iceland has caused one of the great sporting upsets of recent times, knocking England out of Euro 2016.
Iceland, with less than 100 professional footballers, stunned England 2-1 in France.
The loss saw Roy Hodgson resign as England manager.
He was on around $5 million (Australian) a year.
To put that into perspective, one of Iceland’s joint-managers works part-time as a dentist.
3AW Breakfast spoke with Gunnar Guelaugsson, who owns a pub in Reykjavik – the capital of Iceland.
‘It’s going to be a good night,’ he said.
‘It’s like independence day and every Saturday night ever rolled into one!’
