What is the ‘The Dark Web’?

Futurist Steve Sammartino gave 3AW Drive an insight into the secrets of the unsearchable internet. 

The Dark Web is an area of the internet which allows users and website operators to remain anonymous or untraceable.

‘The web that we know is just the tip of the iceberg,’ says Steve.

Steve compared the internet to an onion, there’s many layers holding it together.

• Surface Web (what we all know)
• The Deep Web – ‘Most of it is just software and infrastructure, things that run your email, your banking, your online stuff. It’s the plumbing of the internet,’ says Steve. 
• The Dark Web – ‘You can’t find it if you don’t know where to go.’
