Alzheimers.

It’s an awful disease that robs people of their memory.

But many sufferers aren’t letting it ruin their life.

3AW Mornings tried to find out more on Monday.

An 80-year-old British man with dementia has taken the internet by storm after online videos of him singing in the car went viral.

He may have lost his memory, but not forgotten the lyrics to several classic songs.

Dr David Sykes from Alzheimer’s Australia told Tony Jones music can change the lives of patients.

‘It is so important as a means of engagement,’ Dr Sykes said.

‘There’s a lot of research being done around how it improves mood, and can also improve behavioural issues.’
