A nine-year-old boy in America has woken up from surgery thinking he is a gangsta.

But fear not – Prof Michael Saling from the Florey Institute of Neuroscience told Neil Mitchell it’s more amusing than concerning.

‘What this looks like is post-anaesthetic confusional state – but it’s quite an extraordinary one,’ Prof Saling said.

‘Part of his brain has woken up ahead of the rest of his brain.’
