One person is dead after a collision between a truck and a car at Pakenham South.

The crash happened on Koo Wee Rup road, near the intersection of Watson Road, around half past seven this morning.

The truck caught fire, while the driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene.

The truck driver and passenger escaped injury.
