Bicycle advocates remain opposed to calls for cyclists to be forced to get third-party insurance to ride on the roads.

Craig Richards, CEO of the Bicycle Network, said it wasn’t wise to put a financial barrier between people riding a bike or not.

“It’s really good to encourage people to ride bikes,” he said.
