Australia is forecast to 98 per cent cashless by 2024.

Colin Birney, Head of Business Development at Square Australia, told Tom Elliott that despite the move towards technological payments, he couldn’t see cash being completely phased out any time soon.

“There will always be a place for cash,” he said.
