3AW Mornings host Neil Mitchell has given controversial columnist Peter FitzSimons a clip, branding his latest dig at Melbourne an ‘unoriginal piece of tripe.’

FitzSimons has taken aim at Melbourne over its new sky-high walk over the MCG, which has drawn comparisons to the walk over the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Neil Mitchell said he didn’t realise it was a competition, but couldn’t resist sending a few barbs back at the Sydney-centric media personality.

‘We’ve got a grand final, Melbourne Cup and grand prix to worry about, as well as a bit of class, a bit of style, good coffee and fewer crooks ? a lot fewer crooks,’ Neil Mitchell said.

‘Oh. And you’re allowed to have a drink at night, too.

‘And you don’t have to count your fingers after a business deal.’
