Why we are being encouraged to get into the Christmas cheer early this year!

Jacqui Felgate

A clinical psychologist has encouraged Australians to get into the Christmas cheer early after a torrid year due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Dr James Kirby, senior lecturer in clinical psychology at the University of Queensland, said it was a great opportunity to lift spirits and ease stress.

“Moments like Christmas are opportunities to get engaged in rituals, with others, and we know rituals with others brings people together and that’s a great source of wellbeing,” he said.
