Dog brutally stabbed to death at Wheelers Hill

A heartless killer has murdered a black labrador in a frenzied attack in Melbourne’s south-east.

Beloved Wilbur was last seen by his owner just before 8am on Wednesday morning.

The dog, 6, was left safe in the backyard of a Jells Road home at Wheelers Hill.

Some time between then and 6.15 that night, somebody entered the property.

Wilbur was stabbed 19 times.

He couldn’t be revived after he was rushed to a vet.

Police said there weren’t any signs of forced entry to the property and whoever killed Wilbur didn’t steal anything.

His owner, Alberto, told Neil Mitchell he couldn’t understand why anyone would kill him.
