Homicide squad detectives are investigating after a stabbing attack that left a woman and a six-year-old girl dead.

Emergency services were called to Kellaway Crescent about 7.50pm last night to reports of a stabbing.

A 38-year-old mother and her six-year-old daughter were found with life-threatening stab wounds.

Police confronted the woman’s husband, a 40-year-old man, who began stabbing himself before being subdued by police.

The 38-year-old woman died in at the scene.

The six-year-old girl was taken to hospital with critical injuries, where she died this morning.

Another daughter, aged 10, managed to flee uninjured.

The 40-year-old man is under police guard in hospital. He is in a critical condition.
