Bernie Finn says he’s the new leader of the Democratic Labour Party.

It comes after he was booted out of the Liberal Party on the back of controversial comments about abortion.

Mr Finn told Neil Mitchell on Thursday he’d been approached by eight other parties to join before choosing to join the DLP.

“We are a genuinely conservative labour party,” he said.

And he’s already got his eye on claiming seats at the upcoming state election, naming Fiona Patten as one of his targets.

“We are very much hoping we will take her seat,” he said.
