LATEST: The Andrews government is flatly rejecting suggestions its $7.9 billion VicRoads deal with superannuation funds is a “part-privatisation” of the agency.

They’re calling it a “joint venture”.

Greens MP Sam Hibbins says the deal, which will see Aware Super, Australian Retirement Trust and Macquarie Asset Management take control of licencing and registration, was a “deeply irresponsible” decision.

“This is a Barry Crocker, a shocker, an absolute shocker of a decision by the state government,” he said.

But Ben Carroll, Minister for Roads and Public Transport, said it was a huge opportunity for Victoria.

He denies they’re selling off VicRoads.
