Spectacular meteor showers to light up Australian skies this weekend

Tom Elliott

The first of three meteor showers in four days began last night, but if you missed it, there’s no need to worry!

Piscis Austrinids started on Thursday night, and Alpha Capricornids and Southern Delta Aquariids are yet to begin.

Bill Stent from the Astronomical Society of Victoria says the best is yet to come.

“Probably the best pair of them is happening tomorrow night,” he told Neil Mitchell.

Mr Stent says the meteor showers will be visible if you look east/north-east from about 11pm on Saturday night.

“It’ll go all night,” he said.
