Neil Mitchell says Australians need to know whether the federal government is paying Shaquille O’Neal for his involvement in the Voice to Parliament campaign.

The basketball star joined Anthony Albanese for a press conference on Saturday announcing he’d be lending his support to social videos ahead of the referendum.

“Tell us what the plan is, don’t bring out a gambling ambassador who’d probably know less about it than a hermit under a rock,” Neil Mitchell said of the move.

“I think the Prime Minister showed a bad lack of understanding here.

“I think that insults Australia.
