‘Chaos’ as tens of thousands descend on the Melbourne Royal Show
It has been a chaotic first day at the Melbourne Royal Show.
An unexpected public holiday, coupled with glorious weather, saw tens of thousands of people descend on the showgrounds.
Brad Jenkins, Melbourne Royal Chief Executive, told 3AW Drive there was huge traffic and apologised for any delays.
“It has been a massive day,” he said.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t all smooth sailing.
Many were left shocked and upset to find they couldn’t get a ticket on the door, with all purchases having to be pre-booked online. The event was also sold-out.
Others were forced to wait hours for rides.
“It is absolutely chockers!” 9 News reporter Reid Butler told Heidi Murphy from the showgrounds.
