Controversial hay bale sculpture to be rebuilt after being set on fire
UPDATE: It’s back!
A controversial, yet iconic hay bale sculpture has been rebuilt after it was burned by vandals earlier this week.
Farmer Bruce Cook, who first erected the sculpture of a cow and bull mating, vowed to rebuild it ‘bigger and better’ on Thursday.
By Friday afternoon, he had followed through on his promise.
Mr Cook was threatened with charges after building the sculpture at his Lake Charm property in April.
It had withstood a barrage of complaints, and even fierce winds, before being set on fire on Wednesday.
But Mr Cook told Tom Elliott the statue would be back.
‘We’ll do the same thing, but we’ll make it bigger and better,’ he said on 3AW Drive.
‘It’s an iconic landmark now.’
