‘I don’t feel welcome’: Essendon CEO appointment sparks fan revolt

Tom Elliott

An Essendon fan says he’s torn up his membership after former NAB chief Andrew Thorburn was appointed CEO of the club.

It’s emerged Mr Thorburn is chairman of City on a Hill, a church organisation which likens abortion to concentration camps and says homosexual behaviour is wrong.

“I don’t feel welcome as part of this club,” Tim Baxter, Deputy Mayor of the City of Port Phillip, told Neil Mitchell.
