Tom Elliott explains why looming referendum is doomed to fail

Jacqui Felgate

Tom Elliott says the push for an Indigenous Voice to Parliament is doomed to fail unless Australians are told exactly what it will mean.

It comes after the federal government confirmed it would not decide on a model for the Indigenous voice until after a referendum on the issue in the second half of next year.

“There is no way sensible people can vote for such a big change to our constitution, without knowing what the details are, and yet that’s exactly what the federal government is asking us to do,” Tom Elliott said.
