A Melbourne supermarket has introduced purchase limit on frozen chips.

Coles in Point Cook has put up signs limiting frozen potato chip purchases to two items per customer.

Clarkes Hill potato farmer Rodney Guthrie says it’s been an “extremely hard year” for potato farmers.

“I’d say by January there will be no supply around hardly,” he told 3AW Breakfast.

It’s unclear if other Coles stores have also introduced a chip purchase limit.
