Prime Minister’s office ‘fiddled’ with official transcript

Tom Elliott

The Prime Minister’s office has edited an official interview transcript.

In an interview on an Indigenous voice to parliament on 2GB on Wednesday, Anthony Albanese confirmed he had not sought legal advice from the Solicitor-General before releasing draft changes to the constitution.

But the revelation is conspicuously absent from the official transcript of the interview distributed by the Prime Minister’s office.

“They’ve cut out the ‘No, no’ … They’re sensitive about the fact that he hasn’t taken legal advice from the Solicitor-General,” Neil Mitchell said.

“They’ve fiddled it. It is slippery, it is unnecessary and it makes you think what else are they cutting out of their transcripts?
