The Mayor of Alice Springs has detailed the devastation in his community, telling Tom Elliott there is no doubt it has escalated in recent months and is only getting worse.

“It’s pretty confronting, isn’t it?” Matt Paterson told 3AW Drive.

He said they were effectively fighting “two fires” when it came to what was creating the issues that have now captured national attention.
