The RSPCA says it needs a boost in funding ahead of next week’s state budget or the service risks having to cut services.

RSPCA chief executive officer, Liz Walker, says the service is under a lot of pressure with more animals being seized than ever before and the cost of services increasing.

“We cost seven million, we get 2.3 and we’re after another 4.3 a year … That’s over the next four years, because we’re expecting that our inspectorate costs are going to continue to increase and be more like $12 million by 2027,” Ms Walker told Neil Mitchell.

“I know $4.3 million is a lot of money, but in the scheme of things, we think it’s quite a modest amount and it will make a really big impact,” she said.
