David Koch has announced he’s leaving Sunrise.

He began hosting the Channel 7 breakfast program in 2002.

“The Sunrise gig, if you like is a mistake that got completely out of control — but I’ve loved it,” he told Neil Mitchell.

“I’ve loved every minute of it but the time is right to … bring though the next generation.”

He will step away from the Sunrise desk in two weeks.
