An earthquake scientist admits Melbourne has “huge vulnerabilities” when it comes to tremors.

And a “relaxed” attitude about it probably doesn’t help.

Mark Quigley, Associate Professor of Earthquake Science in the School of Earth Sciences at the University of Melbourne, also explained what generated the loud noise that some say sounded like a truck or train when Melbourne shook on Sunday night.
