A 15-year-old boy is under police guard in hospital after a stolen Mazda was involved in a crash at Norlane, south-west of Melbourne.

Police tried to intercept the vehicle shortly before the crash on the Princes Highway last night.

A passenger from the Mazda also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and has spoken to police.
