Why a prominent Indigenous leader thinks ‘Voice’ money should be spent elsewhere

Following reports the “yes” vote is growing increasingly weaker, a prominent Indigenous leader has said he isn’t surprised by the reports.

Warren Mundine says he’s unsure of how the advisory body promised will differ from existing bodies and said Australia is signing a “blind check.”

“This is costing us $380 million, don’t you think we could better spend that money at a time for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as well as other Australians who are struggling,” he told Shane McInnes, filling in for Tom Elliott.
