Decade-long study finds combination of factors could stave off dementia

3AW Breakfast

A decade-long study which followed 9000 people in England has found exercise in combination with sufficient sleep could stave off dementia.

Senior research fellow from the institute of physical activity and nutrition at Deakin University, Dr Helen MacPherson, says it’s thought a combination of behaviours and risk factors are important for dementia.

“Sleep, physical activity, and diet are kind of a healthy triad of behaviours, it might be different combinations, different stages of life that are really important for dementia risk,” she told Mark Allen and Jimmy Bartel, filling in for Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft.
