A teenager has died in a collision with a truck south-east of Melbourne.

Investigators believe a truck, which was towing a trailer, was turning right at the intersection of the South Gippsland Highway and Devon Road when its collided with a car in Devon Meadows at about 9.50pm on Thursday.

The driver of the car — a 17-year-old from Lynbrook — died at the scene.

The truck driver has been taken to hospital.

Police are investigating the circumstance surrounding the crash.

The South Gippsland Highway remains closed south-bound between Craig and Browns roads.
