A multi-billion dollar defence contract has been signed by the Australian government for South Korean company Kanwha to build military vehicles down at Avalon near Geelong.

The facility is set to see more than 100 infantry-fighting vehicles built in the coming years.

The Mayor of Geelong, Councillor Trent Sullivan, said the project is a “huge announcement” for Geelong and the region and will generate over 200 jobs locally.
