Concerns raised as schools become overcrowded in Melbourne’s inner suburbs

Ross and Russ

Concerns have been raised with state schools in Melbourne’s inner suburbs such Carlton, Parkville and Clifton Hill becoming overcrowded at 110 per cent capacity.

Chief executive of education charity Think Forward Educators, Katie Roberts-Hull, believes huge population growth is a key reason for the problem as people may’ve underestimated the amount of kids who are living in apartments.

“There’s just a bit of a mismatch between planning policy and the new schools right now,” Ms Roberts-Hull told Ross and Russel.
