A senate inquiry into concussions and head trauma in contact sport is calling for a national sports injury database.

Specialist sports and exercise physician Dr Peter Larkins says there is a significant gap in concussion and head trauma knowledge especially return to play protocols.

“The mental health and concussion story, is one of the biggest challenges in footy at the moment,” he told Jimmy Bartel.
