Chief Health Officer urges Victorians to prepare for thunderstorm asthma risk

Tony Jones

Victorians have been warned to be prepared for a high risk of thunderstorm asthma today as most of the state is on alert.

Victoria’s Chief Health Officer, Dr Clare Looker, says anyone who suffers from hayfever, has active asthma or a history of asthma are at risk during a thunderstorm asthma event.

“Avoid being out in the storm … Keep a really close eye on the thunderstorm risk forecasts through the Vic Emergency app, and making sure you’re taking your asthma medication regularly,” she told Tony Jones.
