A Good Samaritan who risked his own life to save an elderly woman who was swept away in fast-moving flood waters in the state’s north has spoken about the ordeal.

A 74-year-old woman was driving along the Elmore-Rywood Road when her car was swept off the road in Elmore, near Bendigo last night before the heroic local Elmore resident Mitch came to the rescue.

“I sort of thought if it was my grandma, I’d hope someone would do the same thing,” Mitch said.
