The Australia Institute has put forward an idea to adopt a “European-style” tax on plastic packaging.

It comes as research from the independent think tank found the tax could raise nearly $1.5 billion each year.

“I think this needs to happen at a federal level,” Nina Gbor, Australia Institute’s Circular Economy & Waste Program Director, told Heidi Murphy on 3AW Mornings.
