Three would-be thieves have tried to smash their way into a Coburg jewellery store this afternoon.

Police say nobody was injured during the attempted armed robbery on Sydney Road, with the three offenders unsuccessful in their attempts to gain entry.

The trio fled the scene in a white Holden sedan.
