‘Long time coming’: Parking could be scrapped for new apartments near public transport

Parking requirements could be scrapped for new apartments near public transport hubs.

It’s being considered by the state government, in a bid to cut $50,000 off the cost of new homes, streamline construction and slash traffic congestion.

Professor of architecture and urban design at the University of Melbourne, Kim Dovey, says it’s “been a long time coming”.
