Victoria Police have confirmed a person has tragically passed away this morning, after a head-on collision caused their car to flip and catch on fire.

The incident occurred around 12:50 this morning in Truganina after a silver Holden SUV collided with the vehicle on Hopkins Road.

“The driver of the SUV, a 23-year-old Hillside man, fled the scene on foot and was later apprehended,” Tom Elliott said.
