Neil Mitchell isn’t happy former premier Jeff Kennett wasn’t invited to last weekend’s Australian Grand Prix.

Neil says Mr Kennett is a large part of the reason why the event remains in Melbourne, with his Liberal government poaching the race from Adelaide in the 90s.

“He’s a key part of why we’ve got it,” Neil told 3AW Drive.

“He was not invited and stayed home to watch it on TV, that’s wrong. It’s petulant.”
