The chairman of the SPC board has called for government support, and for Australians to band together, as supermarkets looks overseas for cheap fruit.

Hussein Rifai, says Australians would be buying fruit sourced from Australia, if they could afford it.

“There’s less cash in their hands, they’re trying to make their dollar stretch,” he told Tom Elliott.
