Olympic gold medallist Giaan Rooney has addressed the “great news” for Australian swimmer Lani Pallister ahead of the 800 metre women’s freestyle event.

It comes as Rooney reflected on the “extraordinary” swim by the Australian women’s 4 x 200 metre freestyle relay team, who took out the gold medal after getting the bronze in Tokyo.

“This was the one they wanted back, this was redemption,” Rooney said.
