Eleven-year-old in ‘state of shock’ after ‘absolutely terrifying’ hit-run collision

A Gisborne schoolboy has been left in a “state of shock” after being mowed down by a four-wheel-drive while cycling home from his local skatepark yesterday.

Mum of the 11-year-old victim, Belinda, said her son thinks it was a deliberate act and is “exhausted” after the traumatic collision.

“He came home in a very distressed and panicked state,” Belinda told Jacqui Felgate on 3AW Drive.

“I’ve never seen him in such a state, he was absolutely terrified.”

Victoria Police have since released the following statement:

Macedon Ranges Highway Patrol have identified a man believed to have been involved in a collision with a pedestrian in Gisborne yesterday.

Following a number of enquiries today a 77-year-old man has been spoken to by police and interviewed in relation to the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam/CCTV footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
