‘Absolute garbage’: The council which has been called out for ‘cancelling’ Christmas

The Darebin Council has been called out on 3AW Mornings for “cancelling” Christmas this year.

The council’s festivities over the Christmas period is being branded as ‘Darebin Celebrates’, omitting the word ‘Christmas’.

“You’ve got to cater to the majority don’t you?” Tony Jones said.

“There is nothing wrong with saying Christmas,” he said.

President of Council Watch, Dean Hurlston, then labelled the decision by the Darebin Council as “absolute garbage”.

“This is enough to make anyone want to get rid of councils … this is simply unelected bureaucracy gone mad,” Mr Hurlston said.
