Grampian residents have been told to evacuate as emergency services battle a raging bushfire threatening properties as Victoria braces for extreme temperatures.

Chief executive officer at the Grampians Wimmera Mallee Tourism Marc Sleeman says Halls Gap is a ghost town with many residents evacuated.

“We’ve got a lot of emergency management crews arriving into Halls Gap today, tomorrow, the next day, ahead of what’s going to be a challenging week,” he told Nick McCallum, filling in for Tom Elliott.
